Chelmsford Historical Society Photo Library

Beginning in 2006, the Chelmsford Historical Society, U Mass Lowell and Chelmsford Telemedia collaborated to digitize the historic photographs held in the Society's archive. The Digital Photo Archive
index with scaled down images is available here for research and enjoyment. If digital print quality masters are needed, they can be acquired by arrangement through chelmhist@comcast.net, provided the source is appropriately credited.

The Spalding Memorial

A website for Spalding (or Spaulding) families is now hosted on the Chelmsford Historical Society website. Based on the extensive work The Spalding Memorial, the site was contributed by resident Marti Spalding


The Town Historical Commission has a new web address

Go there to find a comprehensive collection of historical information, news articles and photographs, all available to the public. The site is updated periodically as new homes are added to the State Inventory and National Register of Historic Places.

Pick any historical topic of interest in Chelmsford and you will likely find it there.

Farm Fair Photos

Photos from the Sep 29, 2007 Farm Fair are posted in our Photo Albums on Webshots, and were kindly contributed by Gus Falgren and Ray Kalpas.

Historical Photographs

Beginning in February 2007, the Chelmsford Library worked with the Chelmsford Historical Society and Chelmsford Telemedia to digitize the historic photographs held in the library's archive.

These photographs are part of the Royal Shawcross photograph collection. This collection includes over 150 photographs taken in the North Chelmsford, Massachusetts area around 1901. The subjects include residences and businesses of the area, including the fire ruins of a major mill.
